The Last of Us autosave bug has fixed. According to Sony the bug originated within their own servers and was fixed yesterday.
The original story remains below.
On the release day of The Last of Us it appears the game has an autosave bug which has effected a number of players and is wiping out potentially hours of save data.
It’s unclear at the moment what’s causing it except that it’s to do with the auto save function.
Saving manually appears to alleviate the problem but of course you don’t really want to keep manually saving for fear of losing any progress.
We can confirm this is real, two of our own team have recently been stuck by this bug with myself losing two hours progess – good job I’ve already finished the game on a previous playthrough.
There’s been no official word yet from either Sony or Naughty Dog, we’ll update this when news becomes available.
It appears that if you delete Patch 1.01 then the auto-save bug won’t occur. It’s of course still only a temporary measure until there’s a proper solution but for now it’s your only option.
